You probably loose them because they eventually break w/ rust and or age. We replace w/ new ones at the same time the seed boot is replaced. When the spring breaks it falls out. If the drill is washed often or sits outside in the the rain its possible moisture is mixing w/ the soil and trash that builds up above spring.
