Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | I have not tried those, but on my very early production 750 where the closing wheel was mounted with a long bolt instead of the hex adapter, I replaced the two flat washers with the seal assy for an IH double disc drill opener. This in effect double sealed that outside bearing and extended bearing life many times. The IH seals do not work on the later wheels with the external seal and hex adapter. Anything that helps keep dirt off that seal has to help.
I will add that since replacing the closing wheels with Thompson wheels and the firming wheels with SDX wheels, we have not had one of those have a bearing failure in the last 5 seasons. What a relief from the constant bearing replacement with the stock wheels.
