Several guys have traded there deere heads for drapers and are happy... a family member of mine thats as green as chad h hated the deere head he got....with his 9860 so he got a new macdon 35ft and he loves it...does wheat and soybeans... so im pretty sure if someone as green as my family member can accept this head anyone can... he's very picky

also it follows the ground very well... the 974 model...and the newer kind does but there pretty proud of them lol... good luck and im sure you won't be dissapointed
