Galahad, Alberta
That has happened three times around here. One hopped off the front of a Deere when the operator crossed a railroad track. I can't remember how much damage there was to the machine. The second instance was a guy who didn't lock the pins, and had his dad running the machine. The dad was cutting really low, with the reel right down, trying to get some lodged wheat. He must have grabbed the wrong lever, thought he was putting the reel down more, and backed up. The table came off the hooks while running, made a big mess of the drive lines and hoses. The last was way worse. Two brothers were combining, and realized that they had a motor fire. The driver puts it in road gear and takes off out of the field trying to get to some summer fallow nearby. The other brother is riding on the steps. They hit some ruts, the header jumps off, combine climbs up and onto the header, and pops both front tires. The driver got some real sore ribs, the rider somehow managed to hang onto the rails and didn't get pitched off. The motor fire fortunately burnt itself out without a lot of damage to the machine.
