“These are the times that try men's souls.” | We have been very lucky to receive over 10" moisture since Oct. 1. All of it went in the ground nothing ran off. However, time will tell, still no reserve feed left over. So going into a spring with nothing to bank on, April 16th. will tell all in how the year will be for us. We can feed cows until May 1, it's a crap shoot this year, never in my lifetime have I seen it this bad.
I will guarantee there is other people in the west in a lot worse shape than us, I hope they can hold on until spring. Two bad years can clean you out when you only get 10-14" moisture a year. We always plan on a drought, but it's been a long one this time. 1" of timely rain in spring will make this country. |
