southern MN | Here in Minnesota an 8 hp gas is about right. Light enough for most to manhandle, big enough to move some snow.
There are bigger ones with many features built in, and if you are a big husky brute and you do a whole neighborhood that would be better in such a situation.
The 5 hp machines are a little small and peter out by the end of winter here can’t throw the snow high or far enough, but might be an ok size for Your situation.
I know nothing about electrics, and I realize engines are not often rated in hp any more but it’s all I know. I’m old.
