Ubiquiti makes great stuff but is there a reason you can't just run an ethernet cable to the computer in the basement? I've never had to troubleshoot copper.
I'm concerned about length. What would be the maximum length to go with an ethernet cable between my current router and the computer in the basement? A search seems to indicate as long as 100 meters (300'). Is this practical?
