Subject: Timpte or wilson 40' or 42' trailer

West-Central Missouri
I have a 2004 Freightliner Columbia day cab. I think it is 174" wheelbase. I am looking for a hopper trailer for it. I want a 96" wide x 66" tall ag hopper trailer. 40'-42' long timpte or 41' Wilson.

1st question. With that tractor what length trailer do I need to load and legally bridge 80,000 ? I live in Missouri, but would likely be hauling in Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas also. Just Delivering my own grain. If I get a 40' what is my weight limit? I have read on here it is like 500# less which is about the trailer waight difference in a 40 vs, 42 ft. so what are you gaining with a 42? I will be unloading into a swing hopper auger. Is one length or brand netter for that?

2nd question. If i get a new Wilson trailer and need warranty service do I need to go to a Wilson dealer for that? I would slightly prefer a Wilson and can get one sooner, but the Wilson dealer is 3+ hrs away at columbia vs timpte has 2 or 3 within 1.5 hrs. at Carthage, Joplin, or KC?

3rd question? What advantages of aluminum vs steel subframe?

Thanks,

Greg
