Faunsdale, AL | Which points out the importance of doing diagnostics before tearing into a tractor to change parts.
I have a 4440 powershift that actually cooked the front pack because we were told to return the flow from a vacuum planter hydraulic motor to the rear case. That has the same effect as the SCV internal high pressure leaks......less oil flowing forward and more of that oil being pumped out to the high pressure system so LESS FLOW THROUGH OIL COOLER.
I can’t remember whether we replaced the pump at the time but I know we put all new disks in the pack. After the repair it pulled again but still didn’t have great hydraulics. One day we had a bad leak on a SCV and grabbed one off another tractor and put on it. It made a huge difference in the hydraulic capacity. I think we had a leaking SCV all the time but the return screw-up was the same as a BIG leak. | |
