Eastern NE KS | Do they have access to green forage outside the creep? If yes, they are satisfied with that.
Make the creep more attractive than out with mom. Freshen creep feed 2x/day; add a flake of leafy alfalfa etc. Feed old creep to momma cows so calves mimic them and look for more in their creep pen.
Temporarily dry lot the whole bunch. The creep will suddenly become their favorite food, after nursing. I don't like this idea but know my fallborn calves go to creep in winter easier than any other time. | |
