Subject: Need help understanding dryeration

Eldridge, Iowa
I am new to continuous flow corn dryers and need help understanding how much to dry the corn down to. They say with true "dryeration," you only dry the corn down to 17% or so and the "steeping" and subsequent cooling in a separate bin dry it down the rest of the way to 15% or so and then the corn is put in a storage bin. However, many say that they only dry their corn anyway to 17% in an all-heat dryer and the cooling in the storage bins takes the corn down to 15%. So is the steeping not necessary any more or am I missing something here? Thanks for any help you can give.
