Northern Alberta | I am bugged by ANY patronizing statement meant to make someone feel "special". In this case, yup, farmers eat in the field during harvest and seeding. So what??. A LOT of people eat "on the job". When spraying, I eat in the sprayer while going up and down the field. I DO eat supper at home........at 10:00 or 11:00 when I GET home. My dad hauled logs for 40 years on the coast, he ate his lunch in the truck while he was being loaded. I can not a]say that I know of a single farmer that does it "to feed the world". They do it to make a living and live the lifestyle. How do I know this???, if they can grow an industrial crop that pays better than foodstuffs, they will from the industrial crop. farmers play a VERY important role in society, but so do a LOT of other Non-farmers and many of those "others" work just as long hours and take just as many risks, just different. We are ALL spokes in a wheel. | |
