Strathcona, mn | Just wanted to give an update on my 7.3 gas, f450 crew with 4.88 gears. I’ve had it for a few months now. I pulled my biggest load yet with it. Tractor is about 22,000#, trailer is 8,500#, truck is 9,000#, should be right at 39,500 gross weight. Truck has plenty of power, the 10 speed is amazing. Tow haul mode is impressive, engine braking works great, hardly have to ride brakes at all. Extremely stable loaded, I’ve had 6000# on the bed. Only down fall…. Fuel mileage, lol. Full load traveling 60mph on country roads ran 5.0av mpg. I can say I didn’t buy it thinking it’d be great fuel mileage but I’m not disappointed at all. Empty around the farm is right at 10, +/- 1-2mpg from my other gas pickups. When it’s time to update another truck there will be another 7.3 gas around here. If you are thinking about one you won’t be disappointed.
