Subject: Stihl chainsaw rebuild

Jewell County KS
I have a 026 that suffered a meltdown the other day. As far as I know the oil/gas mix was correct. It started getting hot and we shut it down. It still turns over but is not right. I pulled the muffler and can see that the piston is galled pretty bad.

I am wondering what all to check when I tear it apart?

I see that Meteor pistons have some good reviews and I am wondering if I could replace the piston along with the cylinder if it is bad and get it going again?

Crank seals?

I have not tore it apart yet to see what is all going on.

Any advice appreciated
