Central PA | If the rectifiers short, this puts a huge load on the transformer which will overheat if left on. short term it may be ok. if you are handy and want to replace the rectifiers it can be done. first step would be -Disconnect the rectifiers from the transformer secondary and see if the breaker still blows. if it does, transformer is shot and time for a new charger.
p.s. rectifier will test lower resistance with one polarity of ohmeter and infinite resistance with reversed leads for meter. Low both ways is bad rectifier. | |
