Pull to open and raise and push to close. We have this battle as well, but with the pull type windrower. I like to pull back to swing it off to the right of the tractor and push forward to swing left sine I look over my left shoulder to watch it. It just seems more natural, but others prefer to pull back to “throw” the windrower behind (left) of tractor
