Actually the Mexican blocks were good. The ones that cracked were the #53 blocks that were cast in Brazil. I know because I had one of those in my motorhome which let go. These were produced from 1998 to 2002. The failure rate was 10%. The newer one have a different design. Besides this problem that engine is almost bullet proof.
