Star Prairie, WI
That's impressive and certainly sad to see Buster.

That is a shock to see. It's almost like it's been bludgeoned from the side. We had a pounding rain late yesterday that might negatively affect our grapevines as they are in stages of flowering. Within the month we shall know how are plants were affected. If we get hit by hail like you were during the growing season preharvest that spells the end of that season. Only saving grace is that we are growing perennial plants that have the chance to rebound the next season. Wish you better weather.

We had a large hailstorm come through our area 4 years ago, the timing was just right that it hit just as the red pine trees were pollinating. It wiped out hundreds of acres that were planted as part of the Forest Crop Land program when it first started up, as well as many tree lines along people's property edges. Other species got dinged, but survived just fine.

The majority was salvage logged but some had to be taken down at owner's cost, and some are still standing dead and becoming a real hazard, as the tops are blowing out of them and I suspect they'll soon be completely rotted and tipping over.
