Central Alberta | My Samsung phone was draining power fast. In fact my wireless charger was barely able to keep up. The phone was warm all the time and it was getting worse every day. One day the phone said 49% of the battery drain was coming from Google Play Services, and the next day it was at 67%. I tried shutting down the app and turning off background operation, but Samsung doesn't allow this. It was getting to the point where I had to keep the phone on the charger, and it was a fairly new battery, only a few months old.
So I went into Apps, Google Play Services and when I got to "clear data" I did that. Now that app only uses 2% of the battery draw. In fact, I've had the phone off the charger for 2 days and it's still at 75%.
I've had several Samsung phones over the past 10 years, and each time, the new one backed up from the old one through the cloud. That's probably why the data cache became so large and corrupted over time. Something I'd never considered before. | |
