nw NC | Yummy! A good yield again this year. I started this patch about 15 years ago with stock from a mail order nursery. I started with two varieties, Black Hawk and Cumberland. The Black Hawks finally died out from some disease three or so years ago. The Cumberland are more hardy. Black Hawks were truly black in color, the Cumberland are actually a very dark purple and larger berries. Black Hawks had a slightly sweeter flavor , the Cumberland can be very slightly tart. Never the less, I'll take them. Excellent for jelly.
