Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | The above is correct, I've been there. Some GPS systems have a speed out branch, others do not.
On a previous planter with Ag Leader and a Deere planter monitor, I needed speed for the planter monitor like you. That Ag Leader GPS did NOT have a branch to feed speed out to a planter monitor or anything else for that matter. I like you, used a hockey puck GPS speed only globe on top of the cab. That meant that were two GPS devices on top of the cab. One was the Ag Leader system which was working with steering the tractor and running the row sections etc. The other was completely separate and was just mounted on a corner of the cab to provide speed for the planter monitor. The two lived in harmony and did not interfere with each other.
Later I got a different planter, tractor (8310R) and Ag Leader system. The newer GPS (Ag Leader 6500) does have a radar speed out branch as part of the GPS wiring harness. This signal could be used for a planter monitor, spray controller, tractor dash etc. with the correct wiring adapter. I use it to feed the tractor dash on the newer tractor since the tractor does not have OEM radar or GPS. My population monitor is part of the Ag Leader system now so no radar like speed is needed for it.
I was able to trade in the hockey puck GPS speed only device towards my installation bill. |
