I disagree, at least 'here'. The last time California had BIG fires, there was enough haze in the air, the crops (corn at least) didn't get enough sunlight for maximum yields.
I'd venture as you went farther East, and the smoke wasn't as thick, that maybe wasn't the case, but 'here' harvest moisture was up, and yields were down.
