Subject: RE: Strange silos

nw NC
I had seen a picture of those silos several years ago. Below is google street view photo dated Nov. 2019.
As to the size of the silos, by counting from the top downward the number of steel bands around the chute (each band corresponds to a door which are 2-1/2 feet), I get 16 doors down to just above the top of the roof of building on the ground, so that is 40 feet. That distance is about 2/3 of the silo height , so the silos are 60 feet. Using a ruler against my computer monitor screen I measured the distance of 40 feet and then turned ruler across the width of a silo and it is about 3/4 of the distance that measured 40 feet. So width is 30 feet. Also measured the entire silo at 60 feet and then turned ruler across the width and got 1/2 of that distance, so again 30 feet wide. That is my story and I'm sticking to it. A capacity chart I have shows 1,076 tons corn silage at 65% moisture in a 30 X 60.

To kipps: How did find the location of the silos?
