Just did my kids Gator. Cost about 40$ for the battery adapter, pigtail and fuse to plug into the gator side of the wiring, and a voltage regulator to control the speed.
It's easy to do and not the motors that will burn up, it's the plastic gearboxes that can't take the abuse.
