Anyone know if there is a metal replacement for this Maytag Number ?

You may have to see if a machine shop could make one. Might not be cheap but at least it would last.

I’ve had to make parts in the past as an attempt to redesign problematic appliance parts that don’t hold up.

Edit: according to one source, it’s suggested that the hub drive is made of hard plastic to protect the motor.

Maybe if you had one machined out of aluminum or maybe something denser than plastic but still forgiving yet stronger.
