MN | Has anyone rigged up a way to tie into John Deere's factory 1/2 width planter disconnect electric clutch to turn on and off 1/2 or the whole planter with GPS?
I'm not much of an electrical engineer or I should really say that I don't attempt any wiring myself. One would think it wouldn't be too difficult to use say an ez-boom to connect to the 1/2 width disconnect that comes factory on John Deere planters so that it would shut off automatically as you entered the headlands of a field. We really don't have too many fields that aren't square so it is hard to justify seed savings by going with the air or electric aftermarket clutches. I talked to Tru Count and they don't have anything that would be a nice retrofit for a factory 1/2 width disconnect. Maybe it would take another small box in the cab and then retrofit to the folding and clutch control box.
Anybody else thinking that it would be nice to have something like this until you went with the individual clutches eventually?
