I would seriously look at staying with Deere. If you already have some of the common components upgrading will be considerably cheaper. By far the cheapest way to satisfy your autosteer needs would be an ATU. We have three of them working with an SF2 signal and they have been operation flawlessly. We move them in everything from our 4960's, 8400's, 9400's, 8970's, to our four 9750sts. The only thing I would suggest is purchasing multiple wiring harnesses if you are planning on moving the units.
