I ran the install that changed the registry and was able to download Windows 10 to a flash drive. I'm still not sure how this will turn out. I didn't want to lose my files nor did I want to have to purchase another Win10 as this HP laptop had Win10 on it from the factory. Whatever corrupted my HD made impossible to clone correctly so the new SSD won't boot but wants to repair and it fails. I'm sure that a new Win10 install isn't going to recognize my previous one.
However thank you very much for the information, at least I can experiment, maybe with this flash drive version I can repair the factory install. |
