your seeding rate sounds close- we are recommending 8lbs per acre used as a cover crop. I'm now interested in when it winter kills. so far we've hit 17 2 mornings in a row and I have not pronouced it dead yet. Do you know what it takes to winter kill it? this would have been planted Aug 28th and another planting Sep 28th. My July 28th planting is pretty much done- bloomed and was dying before those cold nights.
Also, phacelia tends to have a low germ rate- 50% is average. You really only need 4 or 5lbs of seed but with low germ rates you should plant 8 lbs.
