And when the residue blows back over covering the strips....no it is not gone in the spring. With only 2-3 weeks in the fall and 2 - 3 weeks in the spring that the ground is not frozen, residue does not dissappear quite that rapidly. That is if one is planting within the optimum planting window for corn production. Soybeans are a bit more forgiving, but the residue still needs different management "here" than other places.
