Subject: RE: Drilled vs planted beans

mn
We've done it both ways for years. I've planted 7", 14", 21" and 28 with the drill, and I like 21" spacing the best . We've weighed side by side in fields, planter would be better by a bu or 2 and next the drill would be better. I have a 5500 CIH 30' fold. I agree that the planter does give better depth control and a more accurate population. I tend to up the population on the drill a little more than planter. Thinking maybe get rid of the drill and just replace with a planter seeing as we don't do wheat anymore.
