For 6 and 8" tile most manufacturers recommend a V shaped trench rather than a U shaped. What is nice is that the same V can be used for 8" and smaller tile, so no need to change the V for different tile sizes. For larger than 8" you should have a spoon U shape to match the tile size. We have a straight edge on the smaller excavator that we can just bolt a V plate onto. For the bigger excavator I have another bucket with a V built into it that I can also bolt a spoon over depending on what size I need. I have seen some V shaped buckets that look like they might work, but my concern is that with the narrowing of the bucket it would be more likely to plug with mud.
