West Kentucky | We ran our 9770 with a 36' Macdon header and rented a 8010 with a 36' Macdon this spring to harvest wheat. When we started harvest, wheat was about 20% and still had some green stems. While the wheat was wet, the 9770 (class size smaller) ran circles around the 8010. Both had similar grain loss and samples. However, once the wheat dried out, both combines performed at similar levels. Our 9770 normally uses just a little over 1 gal/acre on fuel with an 8 row head (non chopping). We can typically run about 2.5 days between fill ups.
I did not notice the noise and vibration difference, but it would be louder shelling corn. I personally thought the cab on the 8010 was a bit too large. Not to sure you couldn't hear an echo if the machine wasn't running. I agree with you 100% on those ^$^#& %$@#$ %$#@ beepers in the 9770. You would think they would allow you to silence them for more the 10 seconds. That is probably our biggest complaint with the combine so far. | |
