Subject: RE: Baxter Black, in hospice care

SE SD
A number of years ago I had the privilege of meeting him, we even sat a visited
Several minutes in a bank lobby in Sioux Falls.
He was in town to speak at the bank sponsored dinner that evening.
I amnot a customer of that bank , nor was I invited to attend the diner.
The bank had advertised on the radio, you could come and meet Baxter Black
in person, in thier lobby.
I took three of my favorite books along, which he graciously signed.
There was no crowd of people, just him,me and the bank Vice President.
We sat down in those big over stuffed chairs in the middle of the lobby and conversed
like two neighbors leaning on the hood of a pickup. it was pretty neat.

The biggest take away, was when we shook hands.
He made the comment. "Your not soft handed".
I really think he has a connection with people who do the physical work
to keep the heart beat of the country going.
Was honored to meet him.
Wish him and his the best.
