Depending on what he is calling "burn" it could be bleaching from the mesotrione.
If sprayed at the upper end of labeled rates, any overlap at all will turn corn white. Usually grows out of it though.
Used to see it all the time prior to section control on sprayers, still see it on odd shaped fields where the boom sections overlap in triangles prior to shutting off.
