childhood home of Randy Travis | From experience. Make sure when working with the NRCS they size your water system to water your max possible herd at 1 watering point. If you are spitting a 4 ball waterer for instance, but will only be accessing 2 of the balls at a time due to it being on a fence line, make sure there is enough water. I'm not sure of your location, but 'here' ever permanent fence line turns into a hedgerow with bird dropping pre-fertilized seeds. I have found it easier to just pick up or move the temporary cross fencing and clip the whole old fenceline and turn it into grazing the next year. Try not to set my cross fencing in the same pattern every year. I have considered setting 4 fence post in a square around the watering points to be able to make a 'trap' and allowing cattle to a access all sides of the waterers.
Just food for thought. |
