Subject: RE: If things go bad...

Southern Oregon
Left alone I would like to think we could hold on a while. What is going to be the first problem is going to be depending on the time of year. Got to feed cows in the winter and make hay in the summer. Spring and fall a lot less day to day to worry about if things go bad fast a person can focus on the bigger problem if they need to.

I hope I will be able to see the writing on the wall when it starts and trade most of the cows to the peppers in the hills early on and not expend a lot of effort trying to keep a large herd of cows together when there is no way to do so without modern supply lines. Then bunker down with a small herd that can live off the land like they did in the "way old" times of a 110 years ago or less. Have a garden and know how to save seeds and such. Good springs in the area so water is not a problem. Keeping the house warm will be a chore, but can be done. Way too many people in the hills who will have nothing in a very short period of time and have no to little real life skills, that will be a problem for everyone in the area. Yes ammo and such will help, but they have ammo as well.

If we can get to the bunker down stage, I would like to think we would have a chance of at least living though it, though I am far from confident of that.

I have considered the draft horses angle. I like the comment on here about oxen instead, though I should learn more about all of that before such an event happens.
