SE IL and SW IN | Again past my education level, but a low CEC soil simply does not have enough exchange locations to feed both a robust rye crop and an excellent soybean crop in the short time frame that it happens. Increasing soil Carbon will increase CEC and seems to increase the amount of K that I describe as EASY, but that takes more P & K so continues the vicious cycle. In my world, I see again this year soybeans that will make 70-80 bushels with evidence of K deficiency following Rye.
Some K will make the symptoms go away, but do little for additional yield. | |
