Of course they would not field dry that time of year (here anyway).
I waited till we had 2 days of temps below 0 Centigrade and harvested them. It went very fine. But they tested 42% moisture!
I put them in a thin layer in the floor dryer and applied heat right away as I feared they would rot otherwise.
They dried down all right but that was the only time I raised that crop. Too high expenses.
(About 5 hours after I applied heat it actually rained from the steel construction in the building).
I feel sorry for all you fellow American and Canadian farmers who are tried so hard by your adverse weather conditions.
I sincerely hope you will soon get some of that decent weather which just must be in store for you.
