I figure no need to start with nothing, just take a broken washing machine and improve it. I have never seen a worn out washing machine drum, generally controls, wiring, motors, pumps are the trouble. Just replace the failed component with some duct tape and something else from the junk pile.
Make sure to paint it red and green with duct tape trim when done. Lol
