Couldn’t the average guy on here purchase a stainless steel drum or repurpose large capacity stainless steel washing machine drums (both outer and inner) and make his own washing machine? I know the pants wearing wives might protest because it’s not pretty and stylish enough. This type setup would probably be best if used in another building away from the house due to its non stylish construction. It’s purely built for the function of washing clothes and nothing more.

But seriously, a guy could figure out what rpm works best for low speed washing in a stainless steel barrel and install tumblers inside and seal the bolt holes. It’s easy to build a frame and install bearings and wheels to support the barrel in a horizontal fashion. A simple switch to increase the motor to run at a higher rpm for spin out and a drain pump are all simple to figure out. Simple belt pulleys or sheaves sized accordingly. You could even get fancy and meter the fill amount for water when washing. That’s of course if you have a tub within a tub or a barrel mounted inside a larger fixed barrel. The inner barrel spins while the outer remains stationary.

Simplicity is your friend. If you have the type wife who rules everything and uses her husband for a whipping post then the above probably won’t work for you.
just buy a commercial washer and dryer. do you use your wife as a whipping post. were you the person that very old fashion religious and your wife has to walk so many feet behind?
