I have had to replace the electric motor/gear reduction unit that changes the speed. Mine burned out. It would only work one direction, not both directions. Easy to test, just put 12v to it to see if it works. Good luck.
Yes you can adjust it manually. I think you have to remove the gear reduction unit.
