Yes, ground issues are the root of many problems. Different times when bench testing Ag Leader setups, I've gotten an error message mentioning a problem with the foamer driver circuit. Apparently somewhere or at some time, thought was given to trying to run a foamer through the system. This has not actually been done to my knowledge, so the foamer error message confused me.

What I did find in every instance was what I call a "dangling ground" meaning a ground connection was not complete to the rest of the system since it was just thrown together temporarily on the bench.

I would suspect that your control valve has an internal problem although that wouldn't explain why a sub didn't work but then the original now does. I suspect the problem will surface again.
