Virginia, Northern Neck | Sad to admit, but the Delco MT series has been totally eclipsed by Hitachi.
I have a bunch of old MT starters, saving for parts, but most likely will eventually be scrapped.
Get with a Hitachi distributor, it will most likely be the last starter you will buy for that engine.
The first tine I did this, I could not believe that the Hitachi starter was a direct replacement, because it had a different number of teeth than the Delco.
It was a smaller gear, so it had fewer teeth, but they aligned perfectly.
The world has changed, we may not always like it, but we need to keep moving forward.
