western iowa,by Denison
there was a post while back on in line hay trailers-we bought a hay boss from a dealer in King City Mo. I think Gary Carlson
it has a hyd dump with brakes that you can put on with a lever-anyhow was on craigslist-Gary was very nice to work with;
He is on craigslist or his number is 660-483-z ero zero zero6
think a new 8 bale is $6350 with 14 ply tires-everyone that has used the trailer like it
there also is a you tube video but I do not know how to paste and put the address up

I sure like mine and would like to have a second one. Now way I’d ever want to go to a manual trailer.

They now are making a heavier version. It's worth the extra coin. We have two of them. The only thing we ever replace are the tool boxes that hold the remote - sometimes they stress crack - fender washers are your friend. And we keep a extra coil spring on hand for the spring loaded latch. They sometimes give out.

We buy them from K&A trailers in Martinsburg, Mo. Great family business.

I’ve been wondering about the heavier model they said they were coming out with. Mine had a weld in the front crack so we beefed the front up a lot.

Macon, MO
I bought mine direct from Woodworth custom trailers outside of Chillicothe MO. They are the ones that make the hay boss. I have a 7 bale with hydraulics and love it.

That thing would be wired into the cab around here so you could dump without getting out.

Wonder what they weigh? Thinking maybe --8-10" casing for main frame, should be pretty basic build. But sometimes a guy works pretty cheap, tho. Always thought pull with bale bed, just be cyl and some pipe and hoes then. ( not them kinda hoes, ya perverts!)

Wouldn't have to get out, if used connanball w/2 outlets, could add another function-- maybe hyd jack? There's always a way to be lazier......I try to ke p my eyes open on that

So are all new ones the heavier version? Or is the heavier version a special order?

There is a hydraulic safety valve lock on the tilt cylinder that you really need to have closed while on the road.  You have to get out anyway to open it, so I don't know why they even have the long remote cord.  We just leave the remote in the tool box and use the buttons in there.

I believe they still make both versions.  We had the lighter original ones for several years with no problems hauling dry hay and straw/cornstalks.  But if you are hauling 90% silage bales like we are now, the heavier one is better.  When you tilt the bed with ten 2800 pound wet silage bales on it, they don't roll off and exit the bed as soon as dry hay does because they are squishy, which puts a lot more stress on the tilting mechanism when it bottoms out to the side.  The dry bales would have already rolled off long before it tilts all the way over.

Wayne - Check your steel plate welded onto the main beam where the hydraulic cylinder pins on.  We had that plate crack at the weld between it and the box frame.  Then if the plate bows out, the trailer doesn't come all the way back when you retract the cylinder, and it makes it hard for the spring latch to engage on a hill.  Its hard to see it, but if it starts not latching easily, that is your trouble there.  You will see what I mean when you look at it.  The heavier silage trailer version has a beefier plate on there.   They still are the best trailer out there that I have found.

I spoke with the manufacturer and asked about the heavy duty model, he told me there was no such thing. He did say they could make the frame heavier if I wanted, but there was no need for it. So I'm thinking the new ones are all the heavier models.

Aha! Can use my second outlets to run a safety latch.

The hydr Jack seemed like an idea for grandkids----or boss lady-- they like to drive, ain't real big.

Hate to have anything that impedes their productivity....

Put an extra cylinder on for safe keeping. Of course our traffic situation is a little different than most. Would like to have a couple for my boys at least until there ready for truck driving.

In your area I’m sure you’d be fine. Around here we are in so much traffic we like the lock on for liability reasons. What we found is even on 12 mile hauls these trailers will whoop up on lowboys behind semis.

I think the manual ones almost want to dump?

If a guy built it himself, should e easy to build hydraulic so it wants to stay loaded.
