I use PCMARS software. There are a lot of software options available that will do what you want. I think a big thing (at least for me) is getting a program that allows you to write checks. I was like you in that I would get lazy as the year went on. By writing checks with the program over half the work is done. Writing checks on the computer will not make the check writing process go faster but when you are done writing the check it is already coded and entered in your accounting software. Computer is great when something needs to be changed. With P&P if an expense gets coded wrong it is very easy to correct and the math gets automatically updated.
