Speed yes, but also allows people susceptible to false claims to get 'together' from long distances apart. In the past the weird view of 'Pete' on the east coast would never have been known by 'Sam' on the west coast and then been able to gather together with others that fell for that story too.

However the internet has been a good thing in many ways that out weigh the bad things.

We just need to teach people to be a little more doubtful of stories on social media and look for evidence and proof before just believing in things, especially things that are way out there with outlandish claims.
