In a nutshell the electrolysis method uses current from a battery charger along with a “waste” electrode and a solution that will conduct electricity to remove rust. I use a 30 gallon plastic barrel on its side with a large hole cut in it. I use red devil lye and washing soda added to water to make my solution. I use a piece of carbon as a waste electrode. It’s a somewhat slow process but it does it’s thing while I’m farming.

I’m sure you can Google rust removal using electrolysis you’ll find much better explanations and finer points.
