OK Panhandle | At one point, Ubiquiti had a manufacturing defect in their Toughcable where the outer sheath would crack and eventually fall off. I had an install on a grain elevator where this happened, and the cable became a 150' vertical conduit for water straight into the scale office.
The newer Toughcable doesn't have that problem, and I keep using it because of the ESD drain wire. I don't know how much of an issue ESD is, but in my dry, windy, dirty environment, I try to install equipment like Ubiquiti recommends. I think that the gel-filled cable works the best to keep water out, but it is nasty to terminate. Sticky goop everythere. I've never used the gel tape cable mentioned earlier. | |
