Tx | Cotton used to be king here(central Texas), now it's almost dead. With the drought this year 1/4 to 1/3 bale per acre was the average. There use to be(20-30 years ago) one or two gins in every small community. Now empty buildings and seed houses are all that stand.
I had one farmer tell me in a good year he could make the most money off of cotton, but in the last few years, inputs have went up too much. One problem he always had was getting someone to strip the cotton. | |
